Sara Jane Brand, 79, of Fortville, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, at IU Saxony Hospital. She was born June 12, 1942, in Fortville to James F. and Gracie (McDonald) Howell.  Sara Jane was a 1960 graduate of the old Fortville High School and retired from Helms Insurance Agency.

She was an honorary retired member of the Fortville chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She loved dining out but most importantly she loved her son, grandchildren and spending time with family. 

Sara Jane is survived by her husband Edward A. Brand, whom she married August 25, 1961, son James (Lori) Brand of Pendleton, grandchildren Tyler and Madison (fiancé Garrett Hall) Brand, sister: Lou Ann (Mike) Brown of Fortville, nephew Mark (Heather) Brown and niece Kelly (Brian) Conner. She was preceded in death by her son Scott Edward Brand, parents and brother Jimmy Howell.

A celebration of life for Sara Jane will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Fortville American Legion Post #391.  Please join the family to celebrate Sara Jane and her extraordinary life.
