Suzanne Pepper Smith, affectionately known as “Pepper,” passed away on October 2, 2025, at the young age of 67. Born on October 21, 1957, and raised in Georgia, she was proud to be a true Georgia peach.

Pepper built a career as a claim collector at USA Group, later earning her real estate license, and enjoyed working at her granddaughter’s elementary school. While her work was meaningful, her heart was always centered on her family. She was the devoted mother of Iesha, and cherished granddaughter Ava and husband Jim as her greatest joys in life.

Known for her vibrant spirit, Pepper loved the beach, sunbathing, and always found a reason to celebrate. She was the life of every party, making sure those around her were having a wonderful time. Her love of music—especially Fleetwood Mac—brought her joy, and she was famous in the family for her stuffed mushrooms at every gathering. She also had her simple favorites: peanut butter and honey sandwiches, sweet tea, more recently bagels with cream cheese, and the company of her beloved cats.

Friends and family will remember Pepper for her love of long phone conversations, her ever-present sweatshirts, and the way she could light up any room with her laughter and joy. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and celebrated, always ensuring that those around her shared in the warmth and happiness she carried so effortlessly. Her spirit of fun and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

A memorial service to celebrate Suzanne’s life will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Seals Funeral Home 122 W. Staat Street Fortville, IN 46040. Friends may call on at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 pm until the time of service.

A celebration of life well-lived on Tybee Island will take place April 2026. Friends and family are warmly invited, with more information to follow.
