Thomas P. O'Neal

Thomas P. O’Neal, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 19, 2026.

Born on March 15, 1948, in Anderson, Indiana, Thomas was the son of Earl W. O’Neal and Kathryn (Kelly) O’Neal. He graduated from Highland High School in Anderson in 1966 and later attended Brown Institute.

Thomas devoted much of his career to broadcasting, working for a number of radio and television stations, including WLBC, WSUN, and WEDU. He was known for his dedication to the industry and his passion for communications. Over the course of his broadcasting career, Thomas also lent his distinctive voice to many commercial advertisements, a talent that made him a familiar presence to audiences throughout the years.

Outside of work, Thomas enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. An avid angler, he belonged to two bass fishing clubs and cherished the friendships and experiences that came with the sport. He was also a devoted Indiana University basketball fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Hoosiers.

Thomas will be remembered for his love of family, his enthusiasm for the outdoors, and his lifelong passion for broadcasting and IU basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy O’Neal; his daughter, Allison Carter (Scott); his grandchildren, Kyle and Elly Senninger; his sister, Jenny Harless (Tony); his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerome (Betty) Weninger, Joanne (Michael) Schmitz, Donna Patik, Bruce (Carolyn) Weninger, Ronald Weninger, Karen (Dan) Vogt, Lois (Larry Gundrum), Thomas (Dawn) Weninger, Elizabeth (John) Maczuzak, and Brian Weninger; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin O’Neal in 1989, his father, Earl O’Neal, his mother, Kathryn Magers, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Ethel Weninger, his sister-in-law, Yvonne Weninger, and his brothers-in-law, Alan Weninger and Mike Patik.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at Seals Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 122 W. Staat Street, Fortville, with visitation from 1:00-3:00 P.M.
