Tom J. Rhoads

Tom Joseph Rhoads, 77, of Fortville passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 27, 1946, in Anderson to Robert and Ina Rhoads.

Tom attended Center School and graduated from Lapel High School in 1964.  He was an Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Tom retired from Ford Motor Company as a production worker in 1999 after 35 years’ service.

Tom was a member of UAW Local 1111, follower of Christ with his Brothers and Sisters at Fortville Church of the Nazarene. He was a fan of  I.U. Basketball and Bobby Knight. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed bird photography, woodworking, gardening and had a love of animals, often relocating small animals. He lived for his family and friends and was very loved.

Tom is survived by his wife Linda “Sue” (Gallet) Rhoads, whom he married March 27, 1976; children Michelle (Craig) Knight of Zionsville and Tom “Joey” Rhoads of Indianapolis; grandchildren Brielle, Kyla, Brooke, Harrison, and Pierson; brother Bob (Wilma) Rhoads of Fortville. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephews Ryan Gallet and Bill Rhoads.

Funeral services to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Gravel Lawn Cemetery Chapel, 9088 W. 1025 South, Fortville. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fortville Church of the Nazarene, 701 S.
