William S. Jones Obituary
William S. “Bill” Jones, 100, of Pendleton, passed away at Henry County Hospital in New Castle, IN. He was born July 15, 1923, in Scriba, NY to Garett S. and Bess W. (Askew) Jones. Bill graduated from Oswego High School in New York and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He served in the 103rd Signal Corps. Following his time in the Air Corps, Bill attended the School of Radio Technology in Chicago, IL. Bill had worked in maintenance for Mohawk Airlines and many other businesses throughout his career. He also was a sports announcer on the radio, a member of the Pendleton American Legion Post 117 and a member of the Cyntheanne Christian Church.
Bill is survived by daughter: Cynthia L. Fox of Pendleton; grandchildren Scott (Trisha) Jones, Clint (Yvette) Jones, Shane (Brandy) Fox, Jenny (Cody Taylor) Jones and Todd (Robin Field) Fox and 11 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Madeline earlier this year, parents, sons: Terry L. Jones and Bruce Jones, grandson Shawn Jones, brothers Howard K. Jones, Albertus Jones and Richard Jones.
A funeral to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Cyntheanne Christian Church 13151 Cyntheanne Road Fishers, IN 46037. Friends may call on Friday from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Burial of Bill’s cremated remains will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
